Introductory course
The Philadelphia Association’s course in psychotherapy and philosophy constitutes the introductory year for the psychotherapy training. However, it is not limited to only those who wish to train, nor is completion of the course sufficient for acceptance to training.
Seminars - time and venue
Tuesday evening between 8.00 and 9.30pm at Marty’s Yard in Hampstead. For details see the current course programme.
Experiential Groups
In addition to the above seminars, students are expected to attend a weekly group (90 min) which runs throughout each term during the year in order to explore group process. Starting time is 6.00 pm on Tuesdays, followed by a break prior to the seminars. Attendance of group/s is a required part of the course.
Tutorials
Students have one tutorial each term with a member of the faculty. They are welcome to arrange private tutorials with any members of the Philadelphia Association to facilitate their own learning. Students may set up their own reading groups and, if wanted, have an Association member present under private arrangement.
Qualifications
There are no formal qualifications required for this course.
How to apply
All applicants must have one interview with a member of the faculty. This should be arranged by contacting the administrator at the above address. Successful applicants will be sent a more detailed summary of the topics to be discussed together with reading lists.
Subsidised place on course
The PA is offering one subsidised place on the Introductory Programme (one third off usual fee). This will be for someone who can demonstrate special needs or limited means. Applications to be submitted by 30 June 2008.
Fees
Application/interview fee: £45 (non-returnable).
Course fee: £765, to include seminars, tutorials and a copy of the Association's books, Thresholds between Philosophy & Psychoanalysis, and Between Psychotherapy & Philosophy).
